This program is intended to reach out to expectant
parents in our congregation, and their infants and
toddlers. Along with weddings and funerals, baptisms are
one of the most emotionally and spiritually intense
experiences in the life of our congregation and its families.
Support provided during this time is especially meaningful and
helpful. "Nurturing Beginnings" expands on EvUCC's
earlier Cradle Roll ministry in providing support to expectant
parents and parents of young children who are active members
of our church. Nurturing Beginnings is run by members of the
Board of Christian Education and Mission Board with assistance
from the Church Secretary and Pastors.
You too can help. If you are expecting a child or
grandchild who you plan to baptize and raise in the church,
please let the church office know
so we can plan accordingly.
We are also planning to deliver a few meals to families
after they return home from the hospital or an adoption. If
you would like to help with this ministry, please contact the church
office.
The
purpose of the Cradle Roll is to support and involve families
of pre-school children in the Sunday School. As each baby
within the congregation is born, they are added to our Cradle
Roll. On the occasion of their Baptism individual banners are
made for each child.
The Nursery is available continuously from 7:45 to
10:30
a.m. each Sunday. The Nursery provides parents with the option
of dropping off their infants and toddlers while they worship
or attend classes. It is also a gentle way to welcome infants
and toddlers into the caring community of the church. Care is
provided by a regularly scheduled staff of volunteers,
coordinated by the Nursery Attendants.
The Nursery Attendants are Angela
Smith and Raney Church.
Parents should sign-in their children at the door to the
Nursery when they leave their children in care. You will be
given a pager to take to church in case the Nursery Attendant
needs you to come back to the nursery before church is
over. If you are
leaving your child in the Nursery for the first time, you will
be asked to fill out a family contact form and to describe
your children’s particular needs. When you pick up your
child, you should sign-out your child.
This class is a bridge for very young children between
the Nursery and more organized class time. Very simple
material is used to provide support for the nurture of these
small Christians. Activities and teaching methods are geared
for short attention spans.
Teachers for this class are Theresa Zobrist and Brittne'
Zobrist.
