Using a well-rounded curriculum of basic Bible
stories, our teachers engage children from pre-schoolers to
6th graders in prayer, story-telling, singing,
stewardship, crafts, and missions projects. New this year we
have a computer lab with lots of Bible stories, adventures,
and activities.
All
classes up through eighth grade meet by sitting on the
right-hand side of the Sanctuary with their teachers at 9:30
a.m. for the opening of the Contemporary Worship service. At
approximately 9:45 a.m. they go to their individual rooms for 55 minutes of class
time, ending at 10:30 a.m.
The Board of Christian Education is
excited about our new Sunday School Program, "Catch the
Faith", that will be implemented this fall. This
rotational style of teaching Bible stories, a growing trend
since the 1990's, has many benefits.
The feature we are most enthused
about is that this method repeats the Bible lesson several
weeks through different learning media such as drama, crafts,
geography, movies and even food. Based on the theory
children learn differently, this variety of experiences will
not only reach all types of learners, but reinforce the lesson
and keep it interesting for all the students.
Instead of the traditional classroom
where one teacher prepares a new lesson each week for the same
class a whole year, in this program the students will visit a
different learning station every week for 4 weeks on the same
Bible lesson. The stations will be led by leaders,
working in their area of interest such as computers, drama,
crafts, music, etc, for a commitment of only that 4 week
lesson.
By committing to this new exciting
Sunday School Program, we hope to:
1. Give every child (including
infrequent attendees) several chances to experience Bible
stories with multimedia resources in the ways that they learn
best.
2. Have more members of the
congregation interacting with our Sunday School children as
the time commitment is for only 1 lesson (4 weeks) in any area
you are interested in.
3. Create a fun, learning
experience for young and old alike as we share God's love.
So please join us and "Catch the
Faith" by volunteering to lead a lesson in this new
program. Call the church office at 654-7459 or Darlene
Nagel or turn in a volunteer slip in an offering plate.
A computer lab with five computers and a variety of
exciting Bible software is now available in the Sunday School
Director’s office to supplement the curriculum. It is hoped
that this contemporary approach will serve to deepen the
children’s understanding and enjoyment of scripture.

The Board of Christian Education is planning an upbeat
"family-oriented" 9:30 worship service during the
summer months. A committee is planning
special activities that will involve children in the worship
service. We encourage families to enjoy this worship
time together!!
