The Wee Care
Day Care program is for families whose parents work and
require alternative care for their young children, beginning
as early as six weeks of age. Kid Care is a companion
program to Wee Care, providing before school and after school
care for children enrolled in Kindergarten through 6th grade.
We believe that children are a gift of God, and in this
Christian environment we provide a variety of experiences that
help them to become the people God intends. The Director is

The Peppermint Pre-School
meets in the church building and serves the community by
providing a morning pre-school program during the school year.
Children develop social, language arts, art, music, and number
readiness skills. Beckie Schrumpf is the director. For more

The purpose
of Faith Countryside Homes is to provide elderly and
handicapped persons with housing facilities and services that
meet their physical, social, and psychological needs, and that
promote their health, security, happiness, and usefulness in
longer living. Adjacent to the church building, Faith
Countryside Homes provides retirement homes and apartments,
assisted living facilities, and as of the Fall of 2002,
skilled nursing home care for those with Alzheimer’s

Evangelical United Church of Christ, in partnership with
Hoyleton Youth and Family Services, provides a ministry of
support and guidance for individuals and families in the
congregation and the community that includes family life
education programs and counseling.
Periodic family life education seminars cover topics such
as parenting, family communication, and special needs such as
step-families and single parenting, among others. Counseling
for individuals as families is provided by Masters Degree
level professionals with extensive counseling experience, who
understand their work as ministry. For more information, call

Boy Scouts
Pack 43 and Troop 43 are sponsored by the Board of Christian
Education and chartered with the Trails West Council of Wood
River. Scouts provides activities, events, and meetings for
boys in grade school through high school. Cubmaster Kevin Frey

The Illinois South Conference of the United Church of
Christ has a campground outside DuBois, Illinois. The camp is
in a beautifully wooded area alongside a lake. Each summer, DuBois Center offers camps for children ages 5 to 18. Camps for
younger children are three days long, older campers stay a
week. Depending on which program the campers enroll in, they
will be housed in tents or cottages. All campers are allowed
to participate in horseback riding, swimming, and boating. For
children of EvUCC members a portion of the camp fee for one
camp will be paid.
During the school year, DuBois Center offers many
different day long and overnight opportunities for people of
all ages. A major event of the year is the DuBois Fall
Festival held on the first weekend in October each
year. The Festival has food booths, a children’s craft area,
horseback riding, and dozens of craft exhibitors from around
